Students from IFB Learnt how to use HyperWorks to Design Aircraft Components

The IFB (Institute of Aircraft Design) of the University of Stuttgart focuses on engineering topics such as: lightweight design, composite material, aircraft design and aircraft production. Professors at IFB taught their students how to use HyperWorks for aerospace related projects. Due to the students being novice users, the learning cycle started with: how to create a model, how to mesh a model and how the model could be improved (i.e simulation-based optimisation). A design task for students was to design a helicopter rear rotor shaft with the use of HyperWorks. Once the students had been able to assimilate how to use a simulation suite like HyperWorks, they designed and built other components too.
