Design of the propelling e-motor using FluxTM 2D
After designing the basic structure of the motorbike, estimating its weight and having defined main performance characteristics, we are able to define some specifications for the propelling electric motor. In this case, we propose to select a design a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor for its high level of efficiency and robustness, using FluxTM 2D Finite Element simulation software.
We will follow the standard workflow, creating the 2D geometry using the Flux dedicated motor overlay, offering simplified meshing capabilities, then describing the physics to finally solve the case and explore results in the post processing environment to predict the machine performance.
Later, we’ll be able to make some Flux 3D electromagnetic and thermal analysis, reduce the machine noise coupling the Flux model to OptiStruct®, optimize its performance with HyperStudy® or link the Flux model in an Activate system to implement efficient drive & control strategy.
