Conceptual Design of a 3 Wheeler Motorbike – Footrest topography optimization with Inspire

 

This assembly of the three wheeler bike was modelled using solidThinking Evolve (see respective videos for more details). We are using solidThinking Inspire 2017 for topography optimization.

Since the footrest panel is a thin sheet and symmetric we have considered only the left portion for analysis and optimization. Inspire provides multiple bead option to control the manufacturability of the part. By carrying out several runs, we found that linear bead pattern yields reasonable results: The baseline design yields a first frequency of 654 Hz, after bead optmization the first frequency is747 Hz (objective: maximize stiffness).

Note: Before running an analysis or optimization we strongly recommend users to define "Run options" under "File preferences". This will help to have all relevant analysis & optimization run folder in one common location for a particular model.
