
In order to reach its goals the team used various tools from Altair‘s HyperWorks software suite. In particular HyperMesh and HyperView for pre- and post-processing as well as OptiStruct and MotionView to optimize the system‘s weight and dynamic behavior. In a first step MotionView was used to obtain the loads on the suspension system and to verify the kinematics of the system. Then HyperMesh was employed to mesh the components and to apply forces and constraints to simulate the most severe stress condition such as braking while cornering, applying vertical, longitudinal and lateral loads.
